5 Week Update

This week has been a huge week for our lil man. He had a go at no CPAP on Monday 21st June, whereby he had just a normal oxygen tube placed in his nose, this meant no breathing assistance for Isaac - he would have to do all the work on his own without any pressure inflating his lungs for him as the CPAP does for him. He lasted a wee while, 5 hours in total, but our lil warrior man got very tired and needed to go back on his CPAP. He continues to do well on the CPAP, requiring very minimal settings and it is envisaged he will progress further and will hopefully get another go at just the oxygen tube soon...no hurry though, the lil man will dictate what he needs and given time he will progress when he is ready to do so. He has come a long way especially considering the amount of lung troubles he has had and the mere fact he has Chronic Lung Disease and this coupled with the normal issues that all micro preemies endure. The Doctors and Nurses are very happy with his progress and he continues to be a very strong little fighter.

Our lil man is putting on the weight, he is up to 19ml feeds every 2 hours (through his nasal gastric tube) and he now weighs 1346 grams. His little name badge on his wrists and feet needed to be upgraded this week as the old ones were getting a little tight.

Mummy has been changing loads of dirty nappies and every once in a while Isaac decides to either wees on mummy or he decides to continually poop whilst changing his bottom, therefore requiring more than the sufficient amount of time to change him...Mummy is convinced it's because he wants her to spend more time touching him and therefore he decides to keep her very busy. All the while whilst being changed, lil man dotingly looks up to his Mummy, which just completely and utterly melts Mummy's heart every single time.

On Wednesday 23rd June (Isaac's 5th week birthday) he got a very special visit from his Great Grandma (Mummy's Grandma) whom we all affectionately refer to as Lola.

It was a very special moment for Mummy to have her Grandma and Mum visit Issac together...It's not very often these days that 4 generations can be together at once.

  7. How wonderful your Lola got to see him. The picture of the 4 of you is priceless. I'm sure he loves when his Mummy is caressing him so he makes sure to just have a littlE extra piddle on hand to let loose to get a bit more time with you ;). You're doing so great Deb. You are as much of a warrior as he is!! God bless that precious baby!
