Monday wasn't such a great day for our lil man. Isaac had a lot of intervention with changing the type of ventilator he is on, this was due to the tiny air sacs that are accumulating in his right lower lung. The new ventilator is designed to give more effective and gentle ventilation. I should note when Isaac had his 5 lung drains put in during his 1st week, he also went onto this type of ventilator and he responded well so we are praying that this happens again. It was also very clear that Isaac was very lethargic, quite pale and just all round didn't seem himself today. Sure enough Isaac's platelets had slightly elevated and after further tests it was discovered he was needing antibiotics for some sort of infection. He was also given a 2nd blood tranfusion late that night, as a lot of blood had been drawn from him throughout the day.
Our lil man Isaac is stable again, he has responded well to the blood transfusion and got his colour back, but he needs continued prayers for a speedy recovery from this infection as well as many prayers for healing his very immature lungs.
One can not prepare any Parent for the many trials and tribulations your child faces in a Neonatal Intensive Care environment. Isaac has already faced so many bumps, ups and downs and yet still there is a such a very long road ahead. We hope and pray each day for continued strength and healing for our lil man.
