In the lead up to going home on Monday 27th September, Mummy and daddy spent 3 nights at the hospital rooming in with Isaac. It was a busy 3 days to say the least but was great in preparing mummy and daddy for the transition from the hospital to being at home. Needless to say we got a taste of what Sleepless nights really mean....but all so worth it for our lil man.

It is so AMAZING having our lil man finally home!!
He is a true Miracle in many ways.
He is a true Miracle in many ways.
Over the last two weeks or so Isaac has really come ahead in leaps and bounds. He is smiling heaps more with full recognition behind his smiles. He is drinking exclusively his bottles of expressed breastmilk really well and sleeping for 3-4 between feeds and sometimes 5-6 hours overnight. I am sure as a consequence of being in a hospital environment for so long Isaac is still unsure at times of day versus night and during the wee hours of the morning he sometimes likes to party...funny about that.. he's just like his parents :) Our lil guy is also quite a wind bag and often has us laughing in hysterics at the amazing noises he can produce with that wind from one such tiny lil guy...he must know his heritage lies with Windy Wellington..lol.
Hospital in the home have been visiting over the course of the last 5 days for a wee visit each day but as Isaac is doing so well he will most likely be completely disharged from the program tomorrow. He has put on a 104 grams in the first 3 days at home and currently weighs 4500grams = 9 pounds 15 ounces...he will be weighed again tomorrow and after that only the Maternal Child Health Nurse will be visiting with follow up appointments at the Childrens hospital with his Respiratory Physician as well as with his Paediatrician.
SO as to not offend anyone...
Isaac is not entirely out of the woods. Due to being a Micro Preemie as well as his Chronic Lung Disease he is at increased high risk of getting an illness which could very easliy land him back in hospital and/or requiring ventilation. As a precaution both mummy and daddy will be keeping Isaac at home and mostly indoors for an extended period of time with very limited outings here and there (especially also whilst it's transitioning to the warmer months), we are also limiting visitors for such reasons and ask anyone who plans to visit to be mindful of Isaac's vulnerability to getting an illness, even if you have just a slight sniffle we ask that you stay away.
Please remember We would absolutely love for everyone to meet our lil Miracle and for him to meet all his fans but in the interim we also need to protect him whilst he grows stronger and builds his immune system...we are just a phone call away and are also available on Skype if anyone is interested...for some reading on this matter please refer to...

So glad he is home and doing well. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MUM AND DAD!!!! Love all the pictures- can't wait to see a captured smile! Keep all the germs away and keep him growing strong. Thinking of you always- Sara.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! I cried all over these pictures. Your little family is all together tucked away home! Isaac is much like my Sophi. Some babies just don't want to miss a beat. At 6 months old we are still trying to cancel the parties she throws in the middle of the night ;) So happy for you all!!!
ReplyDeleteSo very happy he is home and doing so well. He is such a happy little guy too :) Can I ask, what the tubes he still has are for? So happy that he is still getting breast milk too. That must have not been easy to do. So SO SOSOSOSO happy for you and your family :)

ReplyDeleteIsaac has an Apnea monitor lead on his tummy for use whilst he is sleeping. The lead stays on the tummy and when we put him to sleep we plug it into the monitor. The only other foreign tubes he has are the nasal prongs which supply him oxygen.
cheers Deb
