HAPPY NEW YEAR

It has been over a month since I last updated you on Isaac's progress. In a month he really has come ahead in leaps and bounds in so many ways. First of all he is now off his oxygen from the time he wakes in the morning until the time he goes to bed at night. We are still yet to complete a sleep test but if all goes well we are hoping to be off the oxygen completely in about 2 weeks time. He is loving not having the oxygen on and it breaks our hearts to see him cry so much when we have to put it back on at night before he goes to bed.

Isaac has started showing signs of teething and he has also tried his first amount of solid foods (rice cereal). The food thing really didn't interest him much but I am sure given some more time he will start to take an interest in it.

Isaac is really starting to hold and grasp objects and he loves playing with all his toys (especially his new Christmas presents). Beforehand he would slightly touch the toy and then pull away but now he grabs and pulls and prods and throws the toys around. He really likes to look around, know what's going on around him and is intrigued by new faces and new places. We have been getting out and about a little more and Isaac especially loves being in the car or wheeled around in the Pram. In fact any movement is better than sitting still (gee I wonder if he gets this trait also from his father :)

Isaac's first Christmas rolled around and we spent the day at home just the 3 of us. It was nice to spend our first ever Christmas as a family of 3. We did catch up with mummy's side of the family later in the day and it was nice to meet his Great Grandfather "Poppy" and Auntie Gaynor for the first time too.

Slowly but surely Isaac is meeting his members of the family as well as close friends to Mummy and Daddy. Slow and Steady always wins the race.

As the year 2010 has come to an end, we have reflected back on a year that was Pretty Full on in so many ways.

Mummy spent the first half of the year on strict bedrest at home, followed by a month in hospital prior to Isaac's birth. Daddy all the while at mummy's side and never missed a day at the hospital to see mummy. Then the lil man came along and what a Battle he had to endure...130 days in NICU and SCN. There were some very scary times for our lil guy and to look back on that journey is a little hard at times, it is sometimes easier to just focus on the now but looking back we will never forget what he has battled to be here. As his parents we will share with him one day what he went through but on the other hand we are happy indeed that he won't ever actually remember entirely,if at all, what he had to endure in his first months of his life. Having witnessed Isaac's fight and will to be here has been nothing but amazing, scary and at times just pure hell, but he has so much strength and determination and we are ever so proud of him and each day when we go to wake our lil man, we know in our hearts what a TRUE BLESSING he is and that smile and lil laugh that greets us is the best thing in life that we could ever ask for. He is our MIRACLE. 2010 has been an amazing journey, not an easy ride by any means but we hope and pray that as the New year dawns that we continue with nothing but good health, happy times and much love and joy always. Thank you for sharing in our journey and thank you for all your love and support.

3 cheers for our lil Warrior and Happy New Year to all of his fans.
